Burundi, Masha - Espresso

Masha is a community microlot processed at the Masha washing station, where coffee is received from more than 3,200 smallholder farmers. This is a washed, Bourbon lot from Kayanza, Burundi, with a bright fruit character and a deep, comforting sweetness that works beautifully as espresso.

The first sip brings the warmth of caramelised apple, followed by a juicy sumo citrus character that gives the coffee lift and energy. A smooth caramel sweetness develops underneath, softening the acidity and creating a balanced, rounded finish.

As espresso, the flavours become concentrated and generous. The fruit remains clear and lively, while the caramel character adds body and holds everything together. Think apple tarte tatin with raspberry compote and a piece of caramel candy to finish.
