Now in his 30s, Kleumon Silva Moreira has spent most of his adult life working in coffee production. After a decade working alongside Antonio Rigño, who is widely regarded as one of the best coffee farmers in Piatã, Kleumon saved enough to purchase his own small parcel of land, which he named Sítio Canaã, or “promised land” in Portuguese.

He has since demonstrated his love for the land and its crop through an expansive, ambitious approach to coffee farming. At Sítio Canaã, Kleumon has planted upwards of ten distinct coffee varieties, trialling their performance in Piatã’s unique growing conditions. Nearby, he has set up a thriving coffee nursery, where he sells seedlings to neighbouring farmers who value his insight and advice on the best varieties for cultivation.
