Ocholo Bedecho, Washed Filter - Ethiopia

Mr Ocholo Bedecho farms eight hectares of coffee in Haro Wachu, within the Uraga district of Guji, Oromia. His farm benefits from Guji's cool mountain climate, rich red soils and native forest, creating ideal conditions for producing coffees with remarkable sweetness, clarity and vibrant fruit character.

Coffee is the heart of Ocholo's family livelihood. Together with his wife and eight children, he carefully tends the farm while also growing vegetables and enset (often referred to as false banana) for household consumption. Income from coffee has enabled him to provide an education for all of his children, who continue to support the farm alongside their studies.

This coffee beautifully captures the elegance that has made Uraga one of Ethiopia's most celebrated coffee-growing regions. Delicate stone fruit is complemented by gentle chocolate notes, fruit-forward sweetness and a soft, juicy acidity, creating a cup that is refined, balanced and wonderfully expressive.

A coffee that speaks not only of its remarkable terroir, but also of the family behind it and the value of recognising producers as individuals rather than anonymous contributors.
