Description

Built in 1963, The Gachatha Farmers Cooperative Society currently has 900 active members. These farmers have on average, about 300 coffee trees on a small parcel of land. They typically grow other crops alongside their coffee, increasing the biodiversity in the area.

The surrounding area of Gachatha is densely populated, meaning producers have to take particular care when disposing of waste water and pollutants. The surrounding locals work alongside the farmers to ensure the indigenous flora and fauna are protected, a testament to the true spirit of community.
