At Gititu in Kenya’s renowned Nyeri County, coffee is grown in one of the country’s most celebrated coffee-producing regions, nestled between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Ranges. Here, rich red volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and reliable rainfall create ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation and exceptional cup quality. The Gititu Factory is part of the Aguthi Farmers Cooperative Society and works with around 800 smallholder farmers, each cultivating small plots of coffee with remarkable care and attention.

Harvesting and processing at Gititu are driven by precision and consistency. Cherries are meticulously hand-sorted before pulping, washing, and drying on raised beds for up to 20 days. This disciplined approach allows the inherent qualities of the coffee to shine, preserving the clarity, structure, and vibrant character that have made Nyeri coffees sought after around the world.

In the cup, Gititu is unmistakably Kenyan. Bright citrus acidity is balanced by layers of blackcurrant, berry fruit, and dark sugar sweetness, creating a profile that is both lively and refined. The finish is clean and structured, with remarkable clarity and depth. It is a coffee that captures the essence of Nyeri: expressive, elegant, and effortlessly complex.
