Established in 1952, Kiruru is one of several washing stations operated by the Kiru Farmers' Cooperative, a longstanding organisation dedicated to producing exceptional Kenyan coffees.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe region's rich volcanic soils, cool climate and reliable rainfall create ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality coffee. Farmers primarily grow Batian and Ruiru 11, with ripe cherries carefully sorted before undergoing Kenya's renowned washed process. After flotation to remove lower-density fruit, the cherries are pulped, fermented, washed, graded by density and slowly dried on raised African beds, preserving the clarity and vibrancy for which Kenyan coffees are celebrated.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBeyond producing outstanding coffee, the cooperative is deeply committed to sustainability.
