Kiangai, Washed - Kenya

Kibirigwi Farmers Cooperative Society brings together around 950 smallholder farmers in Kenya’s renowned coffee-growing highlands. 

The Kiangai mill, one of eight factories operated by the cooperative, sits just 50 meters from the Kibirigwi River, providing a reliable source of fresh water for processing. 

This is a fully washed coffee that starts with only the ripest, hand picked cherries. They are floated to remove defects and pulped. The coffee is then fermented overnight to break down remaining mucilage, thoroughly washed in clean river water, and carefully graded into screen sizes. With all mucilage around the beans removed, the coffee dries without further fermentation on raised beds for 8–14 days, allowing for slow, even moisture reduction. This meticulous approach preserves clarity, structure, and the coffee’s bright, fruit-forward profile.

This coffee delivers big, concentrated flavours in every cup, featuring notes of floral citrus, dark plum, and rich toffee.
